I know I really need to get caught up.
That was on my list of things to do today, at least start to get this blog caught up.
But alas, after driving carpool this morning and one of the sweet boys making a comment about the state of disaster my van was in I decided I better tackle that first.
So my van is longer full of camp chairs from soccer and baseball games.
It's not longer full of water bottles and Gatorade from the all day trips to the zoo or some where else we were in the sun all day.
It's not longer full of swimsuits and flipflops.
I replaced the extra towels with blankets.
I put the life jackets back in storage that I kept in the emergency compartment of the van. I keep them there just incase we drove by a lake and had to go swimming.
I put the light ponchos away and restocked with the heavier ones.
I vacuumed out the dirt from our hikes, caterpillar hunting, and horse days.
I vacuumed out the red dirt from the trips to Hurricane.
I vacuumed out the sand from the lake, the reservoir, and maybe once or twice we played in the river.
I wiped the ice cream/snow cone hand prints off the windows from stopping for a fun summer treat.
I traded out the extra swimsuits for jackets and gloves.
I traded out the summer snacks for winter ones.
I traded out the sun hats for warm ones.
I have decided that school ruins all my fun. I want to still go out and play. I still want to be out adventuring with my kids and seeing what trouble we can get into. But alas, school started so summer had to end.
So my van is cleaned out and no longer smells of the pool, sweating sporting events, the mountains, or summer. It now smells like a fruity air freshener. It's nice to have it cleaned out but I will miss our summer adventures.
