6 THings I value...
1. Modern Medicine. This includes glucometers, insulin, insulin pumps etc. with out these things I wouldn't be alive. And without moderen medicine I wouldn't have been able to have Seth.
2. Sam, the fact that he never once made me feel bad when we thought I couldn't have kids, the say he sings me silly songs to make me laugh, that he gets up in the middle of the night to get me juice when I go low, he tolerates and doesn't complain about all my "projects"... There's a million reasons.
3. Seth, his drunken' walk, goofy grin, silly sounds, hugs and kisses, that he misses me while I'm gone, he keeps me active, helps with everything, he's my shadow, it took alot of work to get him here but so worth it.... again there's a million reasons.
4. Disabled People: my memories would be so boring with out the clients I've served. They make life interesting and see the world in a way that most others can't. They love and accept everyone and being around various people with disablitities has blessed my life more than I can ever imagine.
5. My Family and Friends- I value my parents, brothers, sister, in laws, neice, nephews etc. But I also have a wonderful group of people that's not blood related that have choosen to treat me like family and I value them so much too.
6. Knowing that I am a Child of God and that I'm loved.

3. Never ending problems with this house mainly caused by the people we bought it from
4. Homework (don't get me wrong a value an education, and that I get to go to school and not work and school. Sometimes homework is just so overwhelming)
5. Dog hair- I love My lab Lucy, she's my girl. but she sheds and I get tired of all the dog hair.
6. Goat Head Thorns It's taken us all summer of pulling goat head thorn plants, spraying but I think we are finally winning.

So there's random stuff about me...

First Stiches... Well Almost

I woke up feeling pretty good and I was determined to get my list done today... Seth had other ideas. At about 8 this morning I was packing up Seth's summer clothes into a tote for storage. The lid of the tote was leaning up against the rocker. Seth decided he wanted to sit in the rocker and he was sure that by climbing the the lid he could get up there. Well, the lid slide down the floor and the lip of the lid split Seth's lip.
After a few minutes he stopped crying and pulled his head up off my shoulder, and to my horror there was a big spot of blood, he looked at me his eyes starting to go black, his lip getting fat, a bruise coming on the tip of his nose up to his eye brows and blood and drool dripping from his mouth. I laid him down and looked at his mouth. I couldn't see anything. I got him to suck on a few ice cubes in his mesh eater, gave him some Tylenol. And after about a half an hour it stopped bleeding... or so I thought.
He laid down for his nap like normal, well almost like normal he wouldn't take his binkie. I checked on him every 10-20 minutes. He was sleeping fine. I showered, folded laundry, dishes, homework etc. He woke up from his nap about a half hour early. I picked him up and there was about a dinner plate sized spot of blood/drool on his sheet and down front of him. I cleaned him up and gave him a cup of milk and he preceded to throw up all over. And the puke was full of blood. On the positive side though the bruises didn't get nearly as bad as a thought they would.
I called the pediatrician and he said it sounds like he needs stitches. And with Seth being so little they would probably have to put him all the way out to do it. And to put him all the way out we would have to go to Primary Children's. I said how could I be sure before I drove all the way to Salt Lake. He said I could try to get him in with my primary care that is here in Orem.
At 1pm we went to see Dr Olsen. Seth was active as always, vocal and happy as could be. He climbed the step up to the exam bed, pulled out a drawer and tried to climb that too. let the Dr. look at his lip and check him for a concussion. The lip had torn away from the gums and would probably need at least two stitches. UGH!
Are you kidding me...they have to put him all way under for two stitches? I asked what would happen with out the stitch. They said it would heal but might take a few more days than with the stitch. But it would take a few days for him to recover from the anesthesia. I said lets not do the stitches then. The Pediatrician and Family Doctor talked and decided I was right. But while the Doctors were talking Seth proceeded to make faces at himself in the mirror on the back of the door. He thought it was pretty funny to bang his head into the mirror and then laugh. The Doctor said it's a boy thing...
So we left the doctor with no stitches, minor concussion, instructions to keep doing what I was already doing. And with the confidence of the doctor that something like this will happen again and probably again and again. It's a boy thing.

OH WHaT a BeauTiFuL MoRNiNG!

Last night after the ward party Seth went to bed at like 9pm. And he Slept, yes Slept till 9am! OK so at like 3 am he fussed a little just enough to wake me up but not enough to get out of bed because he fell right back asleep. And at 6am (the time he normally gets up I went to check on him because I was a little worried I hadn't heard him yet)
Sam works late on Fridays so the whole family was able to sleep in! it was GLORIOUS!

I was sure he wouldn't take a nap today because he slept in but he's down and out.

Jesus Cake

Ok my sister in law is great! Here is her story about my nephew Ty's fourth Birthday Cake...

Birthday #4. Let's back up here a moment. Just a few weeks after his third birthday, he somehow decided that he wanted a Jesus cake for his fourth birthday. I thought that was cute, but didn't think too much about it, because I was sure he would change his mind before his birthday, which was almost a year away! Only he never changed his mind. All year he talked about his Jesus cake, and never wavered! So here is where a mother gets confused. Is it disrespectful to put Him on a cake? How do you cut the cake? Who gets what part of His face? It doesn't seem right to just pick at the leftovers like our family tends to do (my sister-in-law calls this phenomenon the Domecake, because the cakes always end up as a circle as we pick at them one bite at a time). After worrying for awhile, I came to the conclusion that if my little boy looks to Jesus as his hero, then that's a great thing, and maybe He would be honored. So...don't laugh, I did the best I could!

Isn't she great? And Ty is so adorable. I just found it funny.

Catch up...

So here goes. We got home from Grandma's a week ago, we cleaned (well I cleaned), did some homework, laundry, grocery shopping stuff like that. That was Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thursday, Seth and I went with my friend Jenny and her daughter Ava to the Zoo.

So here's the story with my and Jenny. Jenny and I met at diabetic camp back in 1993. She lived in Orem and I in Bountiful. We started spending so much time together. BFFs. Only, I was stupid my senior year of high school and we lost touch. Until earlier this year when we moved here to Orem. I called Jenny's parents house and got her phone number. And we started hanging out again.

So, after the zoo on Thursday I got home and was changing Seth's diaper and he was really warm. (He had been a little grouchy at the zoo and had a low grade fever but he's also cutting a tooth). But when I took his temp it was 102.9. So I took him to instacare. The Doc there said it was foot and mouth virus. (but he didn't have sores on his feet, in his mouth or on his hands). But just to be safe I called Jenny and apologized, called Sam's family that was supposed to be coming up Thursday night and warned them. And then I called our pediatrcian. He said it was most likely a reaction to the flu shot he got on Monday. But couldn't say for sure since he wasn't the one who examined him. But the rest of the night Seth cuddled and slept.

Friday, Sam's family drove up. Mom, Peggy, Sister Angie and Angie's kids Kate, Ethan, Amberli and Little Sam. Because Little Sam is only a few weeks old Angie and her kids went to stay at Brian and Crystal's house but Mom Hall stayed with us. We all met at DI and visited the DI Anniversary Extravaganza!

Angie took her kids to Brian and Crystal's to unpack and I took Mom Hall to Salt Lake. We went in search of a SQUEEZO. And some Gluten free pasta. We never found the Squeezo but ate dinner at Biaggis, they have a wonderful gluten free menu. Then zoomed back to Salt Lake for the fun and exciting Provo Halloween Cruise.

The cruise was ok, but the kids were hilarious. Amberli (age 4) yelled "these Pumpkins Suck." But that's not what she meant. Ethan (age 6) was so scared at first scared of the beaver, the boat moving, and Pirates. But he eased up a bit when the pirate missed the boat twice and nearly ended up in the water. So after the boat ride we headed home for an early night's sleep. (but it didn't work that way) Sam had to work late and finally got home around 10pm but the Fed Ex man and come by earlier and dropped of Sam's Christmas Present. And Sam did not want to wait to open it. So he opened his Wii and set it all up. And proceded to show Mom Hall how good of a bowler, tennis player etc. he is. So finally off to bed.

We got up the next morning and jetted off to Salt Lake for Chrissy's (my really good friend/sister type) birthday brunch. It was fun Chrissy, Laura, Dulan, Matt and Erin were all there. After brunch...

After a fun and exciting day at the Zoo Saturday they headed back to Hurricane. Sam worked late Saturday night too so Seth and I hung out and I set up the Wii fit. (and I must say I LOVE IT!)

Sunday Sam went to Sacrament and I went to Primary I was in charge of sharing time. I tried to make it work but I don't think it went very well. Oh well! Better next time I guess. We didn't want to take Seth to church because I didn't want to get other kids sick just in case.

Sunday night we went to put Seth in the Tub and the hot water knob broke!!! water every where! So Seth missed his bath, Sam missed Lowe's being open by like ten minutes. So we shut down the water to the whole house because it was leaking everywhere. And Sam tried to fix it the next morning. Only Lowes didn't have the right part and Sam had to get to work for an Audit. So I spent the day with no water. :( But we survived and I made it to the plumbing store and got the right part. And now it's all fixed.

So now it's Tuesday, we spent the day cleaning out the garage so hopefully I can park the car in there before it snows. And we set up our new dining table.

So now off to do more home work and continue playing catch up...

I am- a wife, mother, caregiver, friend… I don’t know I’m still having a little bit of an identity crisis since quitting work.
I want- more sleep (haven’t gotten a full night’s sleep in almost 2 years when I was pregnant I had to get up and test multiple times in the night and now Seth still isn’t sleeping through the night), more time with Sam, more money, to finally be finished with my degree.
I have- a wonderful family and friends, testimony, dogs, and diabetes.
I wish- Seth would sleep through the night, that I could visit the ocean whenever I wanted to.
I dislike- mean people, clicks, goat head thorns
I fear- I fear anything happening to Seth or Sam, I know we will be together in the afterlife, but I’m not sure I’m strong enough to make it until I can see them again. I also fear dialysis, going blind, and not being able to feel my feet.
I hear-Seth breathing through the baby monitor, and Martina McBride’s “God’s Will”
I search- for socks (Maggie loves to steal socks and hide them.), I search for good deals, fun places to go, answers, consumer safety information.
I wonder- why Heavenly Father lets things happen the way they do. (Like why my sweet grandma is suffering in pain and not translated yet.)
I always- have my pump on.
I usually-
I am not- skinny
I dance-with Seth throughout the day. He just giggles and it’s so cute.
I sing- only when I’m alone. Or with Seth but only cause he can’t tell anyone how awful it is.
I never- fall asleep with something or someone touching me.
I rarely- buy anything at full price. I am a HUGE bargain shopper.
I cry- rarely.
I am not always- outgoing, I get really shy around new people.
I lose- binkies (in between Seth and Maggie moving them I can never find them.)
I'm confused- about the election, and the end of the world.
I need- to pay some bills, return some library books, buy some milk, and get some sleepI should- be working on homework.
I dream- of adopting a disabled little boy, having grass, sitting by the ocean….

Anniversary Extravagansa!!!!!

So Deseret Industries has been open for 70 years!!!!! So all DI's are having an Anniversary Extravaganza! Sam's DI in American Fork is doing free Balloons, Cotton Candy and other fun and exciting activities. But all DI's are doing activities and prizes all weekend!

Sam hears all the time I didn't know DI did that... So now is a great time to go to the Anniversary Extravaganza and take a tour and learn what your DI does with donations. Learn about their training programs, schooling, Humanitarian Aide, new items, etc. So if you can go visit Sam at the American Fork DI and he'll show you around!

We got home last Tuesday just in time for me to head off to class, and were leaving again on Friday. So Wednesday and Thursday were spent, catching up on laundry, canning the rest of the salsa, preparing my primary lesson for the sub (Thanks Wendy), midterms and homework! But, we were all ready and headed out to Idaho Falls on Friday Morning. We went to visit my Grandma Forsgren. She's pretty sick, but we had a good time seeing her.

We got home late Sunday night...Monday was spent catching up on homework, cleaning, laundry, more homework, picked the last of the veggies from our garden, (expect the pumpkins of course) and getting Seth to start adjusting back to our routine. Which of course includes harrassing the dogs.

Tuesday, Sam was off work but spent most of the day working on his graduate school application. He's hoping to start in January at Westminster (he'll be driving back to Salt Lake two nights a week). Seth and I worked outside trying to finish getting our yard ready for winter. And Guess what?

We have grass!!!!!!

Ok, so I knew the grass was coming in before but I figured here is as good as place as any to share how excited I am about it! It took 3 plantings, hours and hours of pulling out goathead thorn plants by hand, but finally the grass is winning over the weeds! But while we were out there enjoying the grass and pruning etc. I decided I needed help de-rocking the previous owners rock garden and using the rocks to line a flowerbed. So, the three so very hard working Gubler kids came over and helped! It went so much faster with their help and I think it looks good. And now I have more room for a real garden instead of a rock one next year.

So, since de-rocking didn't take me as long as I thought... I decorated for Halloween!

It's not the best decorating but it was fun! The purple skull over the light makes it glow purple and it looks eerie at night!

Other big news! Sam got put on the standards comittee (I think that's what it's called) at work and it's a big honor and he's really excited. It's an elite team that goes to help new stores open and fix troubled stores. So it should be fun! Standards comittee, Graduate school, Sam will be one busy guy!

What's up for this week, Tomorrow spending the day with Jenny and Ava, then tomorrow night Sam's sister Angie and her family is staying with us for a visit until Saturday! Better busy than bored!

So what did we do this weekend?

Ok so the story actually starts on Wednesday. I was walking around the block and ran into Sister Vera. I was talking with her about the house across the street they are fixing up to sell. The people moved and left a garden full of Tomatoes and Peppers. (like 50 tomatoes plants and 12 various pepper plants). And thinking out loud a said wonder what they are going to do with all those. Sister Vera said she would watch for the owner and ask.
The next day Sister Vera called and said the owner said the produce was ours. So, we picked and picked and picked, I went to class and then we picked some more. Over 200 lbs of tomatoes and peppers (at least that's Sam's guess) 1 diaper box full of peppers, a tote, and 3 medium boxes of tomatoes.
We were heading to visit family on Saturday so I packed up all the produce and called the family and said do you want to can salsa? We chopped, grind ed, boiled and bottled. And in the end ended up with 108 pints of Salsa and Green tomato relish (it's like pickle relish but made with green tomatoes it's Yummy).
The only thing was we ran out of energy and time but not tomatoes. So when we headed home on Tuesday I brought some home with me. And bottled Salsa again this morning 6 pints of peach salsa. and 12 quarts of regular salsa and 8 quarts of Salsa Verde.
So the tomatoes at least the ones I brought home are finally all bottled. (I left more with family) So now I catch up on home work, laundry, and start packing all over again. We leave in a few days to go see Grandma Forsgren!
