Seth's Graduation

Seth's Graduation was more difficult for me that I ever thought it would be.
He has some so far this year. His Teacher Miss Kelli was exactly the teacher he needed.

When we were picking a preschool for Seth I looked at a lot of schools. I looked at one's in basements of people's houses. I looked at other ones in business districts. I looked at ones attached to dance studios etc. I looked at a lot of schools. Emailed a lot of schools. I didn't want a day care. I wanted a school that was age appropriate and would enjoy him for the unique child that he is. I wasn't even going to look at Kids Village at first. I thought there was no way we could afford it. We were paying off Christian's adoption, we had medical bills from my surgery etc. There was no way. I didn't even want to go see it because I didn't want to see what I couldn't give him.
One day when Sam came home for lunch we were out running an errand and he noticed Kids Village and said I feel like we need to go see it. Reluctantly I went to see. From the moment we walked in the door. I knew it was the place for Seth. He loved it. Miss Kathy greeted us and she clicked with Seth right then.  We toured the school. I loved that it was diverse. I loved that there was a variety of ethnicity in the students. I loved that there was a child with hearing aids, one child hand flapping, one on crutches. (I really want being around people with disabilities a normal thing for my kids).  I loved that it smelled like warm cookies. I loved that there was variety in the subjects. I loved that they got to change rooms for different subjects. I loved that it was a school teaching age appropriate curriculum in and age appropriate way. It just felt right there was no arguing about it. After the tour Sam and I went out to the car. We we looked at each other and we both knew. I went back in and filled out the paper work. We just had to have faith that we would find a way to afford it because it just felt like that's what Seth needed.
We have never ever regretted that decision. Kids Village was a place that Seth needed and he just blossomed. He has loved his teachers. They have all been amazing. I loved going to Parent Teacher conferences and hearing them  point out his little quirks that I found enduring but most people miss. They helped him focus his curiosity and this year more than ever they helped him own his voice and speak up for him self. Kids Village has been such a great place for him and this year for Christian.
I didn't realize how attached I had gotten to the routine of going there until it set in at Seth's Graduation. After Lexi was born I hid. I didn't go out much I didn't do much. I had a newborn no one thought anything of it. I was drowning, the postpartum was horrible. I did take Seth to school everyday though. And they noticed that I was not my self. One of the teachers that gets the kids out of the car at drop off one day said it will get better. The third one was the hardest on me too. Just little things like that. They would tell me what good kids they are and that I was doing good as a mom. They knew when I had Dr's appts and would keep the boys a few minutes if I was running late. They noticed when Sam would drop them off more often and ask if I was alright. They were what I needed on multiple occasions too. In a lot of ways they were what we needed for our family. I have been a little over zealous about picking a school for Seth next year. All the teachers have told me what they knew about other schools. They let me sound off about what I was trying to decide. It was so helpful.
When Sam and I were in Mexico, the teachers knew we were going to be gone. Seth's teacher asked him the first day how he was and he got a little teary eyed. She said if he could be good every day while we were gone she would give him a special treat. And knowing Christian she sent one home for Chris everyday too. She helped him count how many more days until we got home and reassured him. Every day my boys went to Kids Village they went above and beyond what they needed too. There are a million other reasons we are so happy with Kids Village. But we can move on to Seth's actual Graduation.

He wanted to look nice. So he wore his bow tie and white shirt with shorts and flip flops.
He stood up there and sang. First time in 3 years he sang. He was blossomed so much!

He got up there with two of his friends and recited a poem. He spoke up. You could hear him. He said the words. My shy little monkey preformed and was so proud of himself.

He sang, but he was still not much for the dancing.

Miss Kelli called his name first and he got to go and get his diploma.
He gave her a big hug, but I snapped the pic to soon.

He walked down the red carpet with a big smile.

He  threw his hat up with his friends one last time.

He said good bye to his teachers.

He wouldn't ever say good bye to Miss Kelli he would only ever tell her see you later. Because he is going  to come see her next year when Christian comes.

Seth, Chris and Miss Kathy on Hat day. Chris didn't have school that day and refused to where a hat but he still wanted to be in the pictures because he was helping deliver their end of year presents.
Miss Annalee was Seth's History teacher and he really enjoyed her too. She praised him up and down.
Miss Kelli and Seth on Hat day.
Seth showing us his Science fair project and his award that he got for it. His project was he wanted to know how to make things fly  really far. So he built a lever. He tested it moving the fulcrum to different positions and then dropped more weight on it to see which combination made things fly really far.
This is Noah Seth's best school friend this year.

Seth has had an amazing 3 years at Kids Village and I can not thank them enough for all they have done to help shape my curious little monkey.

Sam's Birthday

Sam's Birthday this years was pretty mellow. He told me to count Prom as his party. So I did. With Finals, Prom, Mexico, the kids and everything else. I needed to count that as his party.
So on his birthday he got to sleep in. I made him Biscuits and gravy for Breakfast. He lounged and played with the kids  for a few hours. He got dressed and went to lunch with his friend Enoch. He took the boys with him. He was thinking it was just going to be him and Enoch but I had (with the help of Enoch) gotten a bunch of his work friends together for a birthday lunch. They were all there when he got to the restaurant. Lexi and I stayed home so she could take a nap.
After lunch we headed to the aquarium.

After so much fun at the aquarium we went to the Cracker Barrel for Dinner.
Then home for Cake and Ice Cream.
 The cake was.... ugly.
It didn't cook all the way through because I had to turn it off to go to Christian's graduation. I left it in the hot oven while we were gone hoping it was close enough to finish. But it wasn't and it fell.
It was a light fluffy lemon cake. But now it was a very dense, gooey, lemon mush. He still ate it and said it tasted alright. He was just being nice though.
Oh and why did he have 17 candles on there. Because those are the candles I had in the drawer and I am forgetful and forgot to buy more.

So with a string of mistakes, misplans, and good intentions in tow this is how Sam spent his birthday.
