State Fair

So Sam has made a habit of taking the kids' birthdays off work. 

At least he tries too. 

This year on Christian's birthday he was stuck in meetings at the Church office building so he still needs to take a day off to spend all day with Christian. 

He did take a half a day off for Seth's birthday. 

Why only half a day because Seth still had school in the morning. And he wanted to go so he could  take in Krispy Kremes in to share. 

So when Sam got home from work we loaded up and drove to SLC for the state fair. 

We took Seth to the fair 2 years ago for his birthday and he still remembers and wanted to go back. (his actual first choice of what he wanted to do for his birthday was what we did last year and that was play on the beach in Oregon but that was not going to happen this year so he settled for the fair) 

We saw the animals. 

 We posed for pictures.

Seth did not want to be a girl and he said both of the kids looked like girls so he would not have his picture taken. 

 We saw more animals. 

 We took more pictures. 

 We ate lunch. And then went into the kids science area. 

 This one was about smell and how your nose can recognize different scents.

 Then some cotton candy

 Then we met our neighbor who was up there working and she  told us about another cool kids area on the other side of the fair. So we ventured that way.
The kids got aprons and baskets and had to go work the farm.

 They collected corn and fed the cow.

 They then milked the cow and got a milk carton to take to market.

 They had to pick apples and put one in their basket to take to market.

 Then they had to plant seeds and pick the veggies.

 Then they had to drive the tractors around.

 They had to sheer the sheep.

 They had to collect the eggs.

 Then they took items from every stop to the market and sold it to them. They gave them "money' that they got to take to the store and buy a treat (a fruit snack, crackers, or granola bar) It was a lot of fun and very very well done. The FFA kids that were running it were friendly and really nice. The kids loved it.

 Then we stopped by the craft shed and made masks.

 Then we loaded up and headed home well almost we had to stop for ice cream.

Somebody might have gotten tired and fallen asleep with his cone. 

 We went home and made spaghetti with spinach for his special birthday dinner. He asked for a workspace out in the garage where he could have his tools and buildand invent stuff. So a few days later Sam and Seth went on a Daddy date to the Restore and got all sorts of building supplies to build and stock a work bench.

Never Sleep Alone

I love that Seth still sleeps with his Lucy dog stuffed animals. Yes he has more than one. Some of them were mine before the kids and Sam came and it was just me and Lucy. He still talks about her. He still says he misses her and to be honest so do I. 

 At our house you never get to sleep alone. Seth's bed usually has at least one cat sometimes both in it.
Christian usually has a cat and/or Maggie in it.
Our bed has Pugslee in it.
And I won't let anyone sleep with Lexi yet. But she does have an aquarium that she watches while she falls asleep.

Block Party

We had a block party at the end of the summer. 

 I just love Christian's sweet face. 

But these faces are the ones that planned such a fun night. 

They did a great job and everyone had a lot of fun and got to know people better.

JDRF Walk Utah County

The post before explains more about the JDRF walk. 

This is the Utah County Walk.

We were lucky enough to have a rather large team at the Utah county walk. 

We had our family.My parents, my sister and her 3 boys, Sam's sister and her 4 kids, our Neighbors the Gublers. It was a lot of fun and made me feel really good because we had so much support. 

Many of our family members, neighbors and friends donated to the fundraiser as well as supported the Pizza Pie Cafe fundraiser I was in charge of. So it was really really nice to see that much support.

I had lots of super cute scrap stuff to make it with because Amy shared her stuff.

 The Gublers who came and walked with us. 

 Even the dogs made the  trek.

 After the walk  they fed us lunch, they had bouncy slides, they had carnival games, sidewalk chalk, face painting, all sorts of fun stuff.

After all the fun at the walk we came back to our house for cupcakes and ice cream for the boys' birthdays. I know we've been celebrating for a month.
