Pugsley

Pugsley, Sir Pugglesworth, Cuddlepugs crossed the rainbow bridge this morning.

We took him to the vet right before we moved to be checked out and all his vaccines updated. A few weeks after we moved he quit eating as much but we figured it was just the stress from moving. We dog sat a dog and Pugs seemed to like his food so we switched his food and he started eating again, that was October. Towards the end of November he started eating less again. After Christmas he started throwing up frequently. Friday December 30th we took him to the vet. The vet said that there was a growth in his belly. Monday January 2nd we took him to a different vet for an ultrasound. The ultrasound said that the growth was on his spleen and not through out his intestines. Tuesday the 3rd he had surgery to remove the tumor. He was really weak so the vet said (even before the surgery) that he probably only had a 30% chance of survival. But we've had a lot (I mean a lot) of troubling times lately so Sam really needed something to work, so we tried and went through with the surgery.
When we moved Pugs was 42 lbs. When he went in for surgery he was 21 lbs. After they removed the 7lbs tumor he was down to 14lbs.
The tumor was all encapsulated so it made the odds of survival go up.
The dark part is his spleen that is normally the size of a pinkie finger. The watch is there for size, (it's a large watch)
I syringe fed Pugs, a tablespoon of food, every hour for the last week. He would drink on his own but not eat. I tried; I really really tried. Last night I fed him at about 1am. Sam got up at 4:30am to get ready to drive back up north for work. When he checked on Pugs he had passed. He was doing better so I thought it would be ok to sleep for a few hours. I guess it was his time to go.

He was a sweet boy that I will never understand why he was in the shelter in the first place. He loved my kids. He loved to cuddle. He loved to be read too. He loved to eat.

He will be missed very much.
Lexi fell and Pugs sat on her to make her feel better

 Pre-surgery pictures just in case....

 Pugs loved to cuddle.

He'd wait and watch for the kids to come home everyday.
