Runaway!

For our anniversary this year we headed up to Midway to the Homestead Resort. They recently closed for a few months and totally remodeled. To show people what they had done they did a deal to the Chamber of Commerce people (a group Sam works with) that if you came and ate at their Fine Dining restaurant Simons then you could have a free night stay. We were going to go out for our anniversary anyway why not get a free night stay out of it. 

The Homestead is redone nicely but what was even nicer was we were the only ones there. We were the only ones in the restaurant and the Concierge told us we were the only guests too. It made it very peaceful.

It had high ceilings and was in it's own little house.

After dinner and checking out our room we went for a walk. It was so peaceful, you could hear the wind in the trees and the birds.

 

The Homestead has these random frogs around the grounds that you can hunt for. 

 

We "hiked" (took he 78 steps up) to the top of the crater that holds the hot springs.

After our walk we settled in and relaxed.

The next morning after sleeping in we headed to the casual dining experience. 

We weren't the only one there this time there was a group of old men that regularly come there. They play the 1st 9 holes of golf, eat and then play the rest.

After we checked out we drove around Midway/Heber and looked at old houses and just talked. We drove up memorial hill and looked over the valley.

Then we headed home. 

And took the boys out because after all our wedding anniversary is the anniversary of the start of our family. But the family outing will  get it's own post.
